Recording StudioThe Tafi Cultural Institute houses a recording studio with a multi- channel mixing console, Pro Tools, a range of microphones and essential outboard equipment, compressors and pre -amps.
The studio gear includes: iMac 2017 with full Pro Tools, and Ableton Live Allen and Heath ZED 16 Mixing Desk Adam A5X Moniters 2 x Warm Audio outboard Compressors Rodes NT2.A Cardioid Condenser Microphone AKG C1000 S Microphone 4 x Shure SM57 Rodes M5 matched pair Audio-Technica AT825 Stereo Mic AKG ATH M50 Headphones Microkorg Synth Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine Guitar and Guitar amp Full set of Borborbor drums Full set of Agbadza drums Plus much more The Recording Studio provides affordable recording opportunities for local musicians and cultural groups from throughout the Volta Region and Ghana, while employing local engineers, who have been trained by volunteers from The Green Door Studio. The revenue generated by the Recording Studio will go to the Tafi Futures Fund, providing school fees and supplies for young people from the Tafi Community.
Working with The Green Door Studio in Scotland, it will also facilitate collaborative recording projects with international artists, as well as offering month-long Music Residencies and Study Tours for international musicians, students, music educators and researchers.
Please listen to...our first release: Youth Stand Up!, a collaborative recording project between the musicians of The Green Door Studio (Glasgow, Scotland), Lebeha Drumming Centre (Hopkins, Belize) and Tafi Cultural Institute. It was released in October 2015 on Autonomous Africa, a label collaboration between JD Twitch (Optimo), Midland and Auntie Flo. It was recently listed as number 30 on The Vinyl Factory's Top 50 LP's of 2015, playlisted by BBC Radio 6, featured by renown British DJ Andrew Weatherall and has been topping the Reggae and Dancehall Charts.
